morning how are you doing today I'm doing good so I asked you is how was your day from crossing guard office manager and I know and I think and I've I know you have many positions Adventure do that with my kids and my kids started Elementary School when my youngest was entering kindergarten that's when I applied for the position which was actually at 3 receptionist at the Elementary School Whittier Elementary there I held a position of crossing guard supervisor what programs are three the front desk I Then followed them not through middle school. Then to high school because both of my sons went here one graduated in 10 and one graduated 14 however so I came from mentary school to the attendance office here at Westover High School and I worked in the attendance office for about three years and then was hired in as the registrar I worked as registrar for about three years and then I was hired as a manager and I've been definition for 10 years so it was quite the journey to work hard in attendance and be helpful and successful and and great customer service with the customer as the parents to come to the window to check out the students be services I need to be provided for the students you're dealing with a lot of people are calling students out to eat to get services to them I was very interested in becoming a registered with transcripts and colleges and things like that so when that was positioned open up I applied for that and was fortunate to get the opportunity to receive that job that was a hard job you have to be attentive to detail and the transcripts and everything so you don't make mistakes you know what mistakes could cause a student not to graduate on time you know if you have to fix transcription things you know that I do three or four station ident decided I would like to even go higher so when this is his office manager opened up I was actually question would I be interested in this position to buy a different Administration earlier on and I at a time when I wasn't ready to come there so that gave me the confidence to think I could do this you know this is another step I can I can take to be a better person to help things before that. Even in a much broader way than I was doing and you're going to 10 the registrar and having one of those hats in attendance and as register made it more successful in the office manager position to know how to manage the staff and have the knowledge to know hey you know which department needs help today who is absent how can I step in you know things like that so it's a great journey it's all been Clara Golf course because crossing guard and a supervisor in a school program for all assisting students so I just had the opportunity to be with both to be with us to sing Unity so that's basically goes with my motto of waking up to be a better person everyday and helping support someone else so you would say help you become a better leader by in regards to office manager what were the difficulties you faced and how did you overcome those difficulties well as you know in working in a public establishment there can be lots of absences you know for being absent and so when that happens you have to step up from work harder you know they've been there since 1 doing the the job 42 you don't admit it causes with her is cause for a stressful day hear me just to make the thing the office run you don't have to not having hiccups or not have any mistakes or things like that and being in this kind of Dallas meant you do have a lot of that you have a lot of missing employees for various reasons with shinar to not to they're out of their hands system do you know what I mean so it's not that they don't want to be here they just can't be here and so in the causes the other staff to work harder and stuff up so that it done as they are hardship of the of this position or some of the other positions in it in the high school setting or in a school setting that and you can come across some very upset parents you know he gets a interior who have some difficulty understanding and just talking through things or or having the patience to listen or heaviness and do we have to patience to listen to the parents and trying to explain you know what they might be upset about their get you know are not a point across I want to say that but help solve what the issue is and and so lots of times and I'll just come because a parent is you know what a little bit out of trolling in their their language and different things like that in and we has office workers have to maintain our composure and still considered a customer service and be kind and just help them listen to them and help them solve their problem any advice you like to give to anyone who would like to do better with themselves and their future I would just stay as as we spoke earlier I would strive to be a better person everyday you know your young man here with you is going to Hold Your Position next year and and he's learning from you and you leave by example I think that's what I've tried to do in this position I am retiring at the end of this year and I hope that my coworker see that I was always on time or early I was duped into helping you I mean that that's what we hope to do everyday you know we hope to be good people we hope to support people we hope to you know that we come across I want to say hey how you doing he didn't mean and and be kind to everyone in and when you do that you can do anything's in life you know what if you have a good head on your shoulders and a smile on your face and move forward to it you know doing what you set out to do you can do whatever you want to do and I hope to stay the administrative that to my dad happy to be here and happy to have you here you know let's get some work done and move on it and just have a great day thank you for taking time Payday for this interview I know you are busy iron appreciate your service for 10 years you've said I have a nice day.
