Good Apple Award

Joyce Stange is one of those unsung heroes we have at Hemet Unified that should be recognized for her continued efforts and the success she has with a very challenging group of high school students. Her life is devoted to the service of others and she does it with a smile and a steadfast tenacity towards her work, her co-workers and especially her students.

Joyce works in the B.E.S.T.T. Program at West Valley High School. She is also the co-coordinator of West Valley’s Yes I Can class and a key resource for the Read 180 program on campus. She creates a safe, positive learning environment, encourages the academics required for graduation and is always a kind, compassionate listener to students who have some of the worst backgrounds imaginable. Joyce challenges their abilities, makes her students believe in themselves and always has a moment for them no matter how busy she may be at any given time.

Joyce Stange has always stood by her students through good and tough times. Although her students have very difficult and challenging lives, they eagerly come to class knowing Ms. Joyce is always there. She has worked with teenagers who by no fault of their own, are dealing with unfathomable circumstances that would drive most people away from what she does…and yet, she comes back to work every day ready to work hard and enjoy her day with her students.

Meeting Joyce will make you feel better long after your encounter has ended. When Joyce is involved…It’s always a great day to be a Mustang!
