Governing Board Recognition of Excellence Award

The Governing Board of the Hemet Unified School District, on nomination by Trustee Patrick Searl, has selected Erica Espinoza, Counselor at West Valley High School, as the February recipient of the Governing Board Recognition and Award.

Ms. Espinoza received her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development from Azusa Pacific University in 2002 and her Master’s Degree in Educational Counseling in 2006.  Erica began her career in Hemet Unified as a counselor at Acacia Middle School.  She has worked at Rancho Viejo Middle School and is currently a counselor at West Valley High School.

Of the many contributions in our district, Erica initiated and organized the introduction of a District-wide College and Career event, hosted at West Valley High School over the last two years.  Leveraging her professional relationships for the betterment of our community, Erica solicited and gained the endorsement of the California Colleges as a participant in the College and Career Night.  Last October, West Valley High School hosted 60 plus colleges and universities, including UCLA, UC Santa Cruz, UC Berkeley, a majority of Cal State campuses as well as numerous private universities – let alone the full complement of community and regional employers.  In each year of the event, it is estimated that no less than 3000 people have attended with invitations extended to all elementary, middle and high schools in our District. It is my honor to announce that the California Colleges circuit will return to Hemet Unified School District this fall on October 24th.

For outstanding performance, professionalism and loyalty to the Hemet Unified School District, Trustee Patrick Searl presented Erica Espinoza with the Governing Board Recognition of Excellence Award and a $500 certificate to be used toward the District program of her choice.
